Google Voice is an excellent voicemail service by Google, which allows users to send and listen to free voicemails, configure their voicemail address, read incoming voicemails, and much more within the comfort of their own mobile device. There are many Google Voice users all over the world, but this free version is currently only available for a few devices including: HTC Explorer, Motorola Defy, LG Incredible, Samsung Focus, and Motorola Reflex. This version does not include Google Talk, which is an entirely separate program. However, if you have a Google account, activating Google Voice will be a very easy process. To download the free version of Google Voice, go to the Google Android Market application and tap "Software Updates" then choose the Google Voice release.
The second step to downloading the Google Voice mobile app is to go to Google's website, download the app, and sign in to your Google account. Once you have signed in, you will be able to activate Google Voice. Just like any other app, you can make unlimited calls to any Google phone number as long as you have an internet connection. After you have activated Google Voice, you can then change your voice ID to reflect that you use Google Voice instead of your regular cell phone number.
You can then enter a Google Voice number where ever you want to receive calls at. Google Voice provides you with several different options for how you would like to assign your number such as having it pre-programmed so that all of your calls are forwarded to one number or having the number pre-filled with random phone numbers. You can even have your Google Voice number appear on your voice mail box instead of answering it each time. Google Voice does not charge much for these services because they are still in beta testing, hence the low cost. Google Voice can also be used to forward any calls made to your regular cell phone back to the same Google Phone number.
